Transport Wayfinding Case Study
Fort Worth Central
A clearer way forward for Trinity Metro riders
Posted: 14.09.26
A clear welcome and a single view of rail, bus, airport connections and station facilities.
the brief
Create a pilot wayfinding system that makes Fort Worth Central simpler and more intuitive to navigate. Trinity Metro commissioned Robin Worldwide to rethink the passenger experience at this busy transport interchange.
The challenge was straightforward: help passengers quickly understand where they are, find the right service or platform, make onward connections and locate the facilities they need.
our approach
Understanding the journey
At Robin Worldwide, our approach begins with understanding what is already there. We took a deep dive into Trinity Metro’s existing wayfinding, the challenges passengers were experiencing and, most importantly, what the client wanted the new system to achieve.
We then brought our 40 years of public transit industry experience to the project - drawing on what we have seen work successfully in transit environments around the world, as well as what does not - to advise Trinity Metro and develop a solution tailored specifically to Fort Worth Central station.
One visual language brings buses, platforms, exits and facilities together.
Large station identification and bilingual directions support quick decisions.
Directional information is positioned at the points where passengers need to choose their next steps.
the outcome
Designed for Fort Worth
The result is a clear, confident, bold and highly visual system that brings together station identification, services branding, platforms, rail and bus connections, exits and passenger facilities.
Everything was considered as part of one joined-up passenger journey. Strong information hierarchy, intuitive directional cues and bilingual English and Spanish messaging help people make decisions quickly and confidently.
Line Diagrams positioned on each of the platforms reassures riders and helps confirm they are waiting in the correct place for their intended journey.
Fort Worth is rather unique in that there are three distinctly branded services that operate from each of the platforms. Identification signage work together consistently, and supports each of the line brands and helps the rider know that they are on the desired platform.
the outcome
The completed pilot has transformed the wayfinding experience at Fort Worth Central and, most importantly, delivered a solution that Trinity Metro is delighted with.
Clearer information.
Easier connections.
A better journey.

A Memorable Week at the
UITP North American Conference
October 20 – 23 2025

What an incredible week it has been!
Attending the North American UITP Conference in Los Angeles was a highlight — an opportunity to present, facilitate a workshop, and connect with colleagues and friends from across the public transit community.
The event was a strong reminder of the breadth of services and expertise that make public transport systems work — from map design, timetables, and wayfinding (the focus of my team’s work!) to fare collection, crowd management, safety, and security.
Each plays an essential role in shaping the customer experience and ensuring the seamless operation of networks, particularly as cities across Canada, Mexico, and the United States prepare to host the 2026 FIFA World Cup and other major global events.
The collaboration, knowledge sharing, and energy throughout the conference were truly inspiring. It reinforced my belief that public transport is far more than just a means of getting from point A to B — it’s about bringing people together, enabling experiences, and creating lasting memories.
A huge thank you to UITP for organizing such a meaningful event, LA Metro and their incredible support teams for hosting, and to all attendees for making it such a dynamic and engaging gathering. Finally, my sincere appreciation to my team for keeping things running smoothly while I was away — your work makes everything possible.
